April 24^th, 2009, China Arts & Crafts Association Ivory Carving Professional Committee Deputy Director Meeting was Held in Beijing.

Secretary-general of China Arts & Crafts Association Wang Shan, Deputy Secretary-general of China Arts & Crafts Association Chen Jing, Commissioner of China Arts & Crafts Association Ivory Carving Professional Committee and Beijing Ku Peng Ivory Carving Ltd. Xiao Guangyi, Guangzhou Da Xin Ivory Crafts Factory Luo Yuzhong, Beijing Zhengdong Tengfei Arts Ltd. Liu Weicheng, Fuzhou Zhen Gang Arts and Crafts Corporation, Fuzhou Fu Yi Arts and Crafts Corporation Dong Bihong, Fujian Cangshan District Chang Xing Arts and Crafts Factory Cheng and Guangzhou Chao Qun Arts and Crafts Corporation Luo Xun attended this meeting.

The main topics on this meeting were second-time placement’s procedure and proposal of ivory which was imported from Africa in December 2008, standard of classification of enterprises engaged in rationed sale, placement limit and establishment of elephant protection fund.

The Participants were passionate. Second-time placement’s procedure and proposal of ivory were discussed and passed by all deputy directors. It was also demonstrated to establish elephant protection fund in the future in order to protect elephant resource, to strike illegal ivory trade, and to inherit and develop China’s ivory carving skills.
